Frequently asked questions

Most psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP, but many extended health insurance plans provide reimbursement

Psychotherapy may be eligible for reimbursement through extended health benefits, depending on your insurance plan and the professional designation of your therapist. Coverage limits and requirements vary, so we recommend confirming your benefits directly with your insurance provider before your first appointment.

Direct billing may be available in some cases, depending on your insurance provider and plan. Please contact us before your appointment to confirm whether direct billing is available for your specific coverage. You are responsible for confirming your eligibility and remaining balance.

We understand that therapy costs can be a concern. Different therapists and services may have different fee options. Contact our team to discuss your needs and we can help you explore the most suitable available option.

Payment is typically arranged around the time of your appointment. If direct billing is available, you may still be responsible for any portion of the session that your insurance plan does not cover.

Yes. A receipt can be provided with the information needed to submit a reimbursement claim to your insurance provider. Before booking, check that your plan covers services provided by your therapist’s professional designation.

Qualifying psychotherapy services provided by eligible practitioners have been exempt from GST/HST in Canada since June 20, 2024. Some other services, such as certain non-clinical workshops or services outside the exemption requirements, can be treated differently.

Many extended health insurance plans that cover psychotherapy also reimburse eligible virtual sessions. However, coverage depends on your individual plan, so confirm online or virtual psychotherapy coverage directly with your insurer.

Check your insurance policy for the professional designations it covers, such as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or another eligible regulated mental health professional. You can then review our therapist profiles or contact us for help finding a therapist whose credentials match your coverage.

Review our therapists and services, choose the option that best fits your needs, and book an appointment online or contact our team for assistance. If you plan to use insurance, we recommend confirming your coverage before your first session.
