Deniz is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. She has a MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and has been trained in art therapy at the WHEAT Institute. She works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, offering psychotherapy and art therapy in English and Farsi (Persian).
Deniz has several years of experience supporting clients in both the private and public sectors. She works with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma-related concerns, PTSD, neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism, emotional and behavioural regulation, couple and family relationships, peer relationships, life transitions, adjustment difficulties and 2SLGBTQI+ related concerns. She has a particular interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including single-incident, complex, or cumulative forms of trauma, and who may be navigating the lasting emotional impact of these experiences. Her work with trauma and PTSD is grounded in a compassionate, trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, emotional regulation, and empowerment.
With children and adolescents, Deniz collaborates with families, schools, and other professionals to support clients across different environments, providing clinical recommendations and progress reports when appropriate.
Deniz takes an integrative, client-centred, and trauma-informed approach, tailoring therapy to each client’s needs and goals. Her work draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and expressive arts therapy. She is trained in Play Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
As a member of the Iranian diaspora, Deniz brings a culturally responsive and anti-oppressive perspective to her work. She recognizes the influence of culture, identity, migration, systemic barriers, and social inequalities on mental health and is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and compassionate space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.
