SAME-DAY SINGLE-SESSION THERAPY
Single session therapy at Therapedia Centre gives you a focused 60–90 minute conversation when one concern feels pressing. Together, you can sort through what matters, identify a workable next step, and decide what—if anything—you want after today. There is no waitlist and no expectation that you commit to ongoing therapy.
A COMPLETE SESSION IN ITSELF
Single-session therapy is designed as a complete piece of care—not a shortened intake for a treatment plan. You and your therapist agree on one useful focus, look at what is already helping or could help, and shape a realistic action you can take next. Some people get what they need from one meeting. Others use the session to understand what kind of ongoing support would fit. Either outcome is valid, and there is no pressure to book again.
WHEN THIS FORMAT HELPS
This format works best when you can name one concern, choice, or conversation you want to work on today. It is focused and practical, while still making room for the context and emotions that matter.
Think through one clearly defined issue without beginning broad, open-ended therapy.
Prepare for an important choice, boundary, meeting, or conversation with clearer options.
Experience one focused therapy session before deciding whether ongoing support is right for you.
Get short-term support for a new challenge, transition, or moment when you feel stuck.
NOT EMERGENCY CARE
Same-day single-session therapy is not an emergency or crisis-response service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you are thinking about suicide or worried about someone who may be, call or text 9-8-8 anywhere in Canada, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
ONE FOCUS FOR TODAY
Bring the issue that feels most useful to address now. Your therapist will help you narrow the focus; you do not need to arrive with the perfect explanation.
Briefly tell your therapist what is happening and what would make this conversation worthwhile. Together, you will narrow the session to one workable focus.
Look at the concern from a fresh angle, notice strengths and exceptions, and consider practical options that fit your circumstances.
End with a clear takeaway: an action, coping strategy, conversation plan, or recommendation for the kind of support that may help next.
